Amelia Bissett, Emmi Coups and Anna Muscat are competing this week at the Canadian National Field Hockey Championship as members of the U16 Team Ontario Women's team. They are 2-0 after day 1 with wins over PEI and Alberta. Good luck ladies. Let's go Team O!
Congratulations to Clara Leduc and Darcie Brohman, who captured silver medals last week with the Team Ontario U18 women's squad at the Canadian National Field Hockey Championships held in Brampton. The duo both factored in scoring over the tournament, and had a strong tournament final losing a tight match 3-2 to British Columbia. Congrats to all the Team Ontario girls and their coaches in their success.
A combined squad of Goderich and A&C Academy players captured gold on the weekend at the Noronha Cup in Brampton. After going 1-1-1 on the first day of competition, the girls rolled through day two undefeated to win the tournament.
After a solid two days of field hockey, the AOS field hockey squad emerged as silver medalists. In round robin play the girls defeated Halton, Kingston, Quebec, and Scarborough Dolphins. After defeating Halton in a semi-final, the girls lost 1-0 to Scarborough Dolphins in the final. Congrats to the team and special thanks to the organizers for such a great event.
The AOS U16 team battled hard to earn silver medals at the Halton Junior Field Hockey Festival last weekend. The girls went 4-1 in round robin and lost a tight 1-0 match in the final.
The AOS Field Hockey club began the season this weekend in KW and came away with bronze for their efforts. Despite begin shorthanded over the long weekend, the team battled hard over the course of five matches to earn a medal with lots of promise for the future.
Training of the next generation has begun with programming for children under twelve. The goal is to plant the seeds to have our players advance and be competitive for the next round of qualification for the U14 Ontario Summer Games. If you are interested, please email the club, [email protected].
Welcome back sports fans!!! Lots of things new in the field hockey world. Congratulations to Canada’s Wolf Pack qualifying for the World Championships. Special congratulations to Payten Lang of Goderich, who was named as an All-Canadian after an outstanding career with the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. AOS-Goderich is excited to be back up and running with players on the pitch. We will be resuming training sessions on the GDCI pitch beginning in late May with our youth programming for boys and girls Under 12. Participants will need to have an FHO membership for insurance purposes, and be aware of the new protocols implemented by Field Hockey Canada, Field Hockey Ontario, and the various government health agencies. Players/parents will need to complete the necessary health assessment forms prior to being cleared to participate. For more details, email [email protected].
